A great place to learn, with amazing people

As I wrap up my second summer working at Lawson Creamer, I’ve realized not only is it an excellent law firm in a professional sense, but it is such an amazing environment to work and learn in.
I am off for my third and (hopefully) final year at UNB’s faculty of law program in Fredericton. While UNB Law has done an outstanding job of preparing me to be a lawyer from the educational side, Lawson Creamer has helped fill in the gaps from the practical and business side of law.
From learning how to properly communicate with clients and other professionals, to how to efficiently manage my time working on various files, Lawson Creamer has provided the environment I needed to learn all aspects of being part of the legal community.
The best part of working at Lawson Creamer for me has been experiencing the collaborative and team-oriented culture that is so foundational to Lawson Creamer.
No matter what issue or complication arises while working on a file, I have always felt welcome to approach any member of the firm, from partner to paralegal, to help figure out a solution.
Many of the cases I have worked on during my two summers involved sitting down with others and problem solving, whether as simple as drafting a letter or contract and deciding between two similar words, or working to develop a legal argument that might be used at trial.
I am struck by how great each and every staff member at the firm is and how enjoyable it is to work with them every day.
Not only is everyone great at their respective jobs, they are all genuinely good people, which makes it easy to enjoy and be proud of working here.
I grew up on the west side of Saint John, attending school at St. Malachy’s Memorial High School in uptown Saint John. After graduating with an undergraduate degree from St. Thomas in Fredericton, it has felt great to return to Saint John for the summers.
Lawson Creamer has provided me with invaluable experience as a summer student. I am excited to finish my final year of school and take the next, exciting step in my legal career – I’ll be returning to Lawson Creamer next summer for my year of articling!
