Meet Eba Kouamé, Lawson Creamer’s newest associate

When clients choose a law firm, they are also choosing the people behind the advice.

The way lawyers work together, the culture they practise in, and the standards they hold themselves to all shape the service clients receive.

When Eba Kouamé was researching law firms in Saint John, she did what any thorough lawyer would do – she looked at websites, talked to colleagues, and tried to understand each firm's approach to client service.

What stood out to her about Lawson Creamer?

"Everyone was smiling," she recalls. It's a small detail, but it reflects something our clients know well – that good legal work doesn't have to come with unnecessary stress or attitude.

We’re welcoming Eba to our litigation practice, and she brings capabilities that enhance what we can offer clients in an increasingly complex legal landscape.

Eba's path to New Brunswick reflects the kind of determination our clients appreciate in their counsel.

She grew up in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where she earned a civil law degree before recognizing that many international organizations operate under common law systems. Rather than limit herself to one legal tradition, she came to Canada to master both.

At the Université de Moncton, she completed her Juris Doctor. She brings fluency in both official languages to her practice – a capability that matters in New Brunswick, where clients often need counsel who can work seamlessly in either English or French.

Her background gives her a perspective that's increasingly valuable. She understands how civil law and common law systems differ, which is particularly relevant for clients with international connections or cross-border matters. She's worked in both public and private sectors, giving her insight into how government and business interact.

After articling with the City of Saint John's legal department, Eba joined our litigation team.

What drives her is something our clients will recognize immediately – the belief that good legal advice shouldn't be a mystery.

"A lot of people don't know the options they have," she says. "The lawyer can really change someone's situation from a legal perspective – telling them what they can do, how we can approach it. Even if nothing is 100 per cent guaranteed, at least they know their options."

That clarity is what clients need, whether they're navigating a collections matter, a business dispute, or any situation where the legal path forward isn't obvious.

Eba is particularly committed to making legal services accessible to those who may not understand how the system works or what resources are available to them.

She's driven by the understanding that good legal advice can genuinely change outcomes – but only if people know their options exist in the first place.

After articling in Saint John, she made a deliberate choice to stay.

"I love Saint John," she says. "It's a beautiful small city."

When it came to choosing where to practise, she was drawn to Lawson Creamer's collaborative approach. "I have the confidence that I can find any lawyer – partner or associate – and they will pause what they are doing to make sure I have the answer," she notes. That collegial environment translates directly into better client service.

Beyond her legal work, she stays connected to Moncton's francophone community, where she's involved in church activities and pursues interests in interior design and fashion. That connection to New Brunswick's diverse communities is part of what she brings to our practice.

At Lawson Creamer, we've always believed that the quality of legal service comes from lawyers who are engaged, thoughtful and committed to their clients' success.

Eba exemplifies that approach – combining technical legal skill with genuine attention to what clients actually need.

We're delighted to have her as part of the team. Welcome Eba!
